Daisy Fields rattery — nurturing healthier, friendlier rats through responsible breeding, enriched care, and lifelong mentorship for adopters.
View Adoption ProcessHi — I’m Tay. I’m 30 and my love for rats began at age six when I got my first pet. Rats have been part of my life on and off since then, and in my early twenties I began researching breeding with the goal of improving rat health, temperament, and reputation as pets. My priority is healthy, happy rats and a positive experience for adopters — especially first-time owners. I offer lifelong mentorship for every rat adopted from Daisy Fields and aim to build stronger relationships with adopters, new breeders, and the broader rat community.
I focus on improving temperament through a sound genetic base and positive human interactions. Every rat is temperament-tested to make sure adopters receive friendly, curious companions. I believe thoughtful selection and early handling produce better pets and better breeding stock.
Rats at Daisy Fields are raised in properly ventilated, enriched bin cages with toys, hideaways, and regular supervised out-of-cage time. Their staple diet is Kalmbach Lab blocks (18% and 23% blends), supplemented several times a week with fresh produce and nutritious treats for enrichment.
I actively work on newer, rarer genetics and believe in collaborating with other ethical breeders — not gatekeeping. Sharing rarer genetics and encouraging more people to responsibly work on them helps the community and pushes progress in variety, health, and temperament.
